Loire Valley, France

Domaine des Étoiles

Five private villas perched above the Loire, a century-old wine cathedral carved into the hillside, and a telescope that maps constellations known only to shepherds.

Five villas,
infinite serenity

Each residence occupies its own rise above the vineyards, separated by ancient stone walls and olive groves. The Villa Stella opens to a private infinity pool overlooking the Loire at sunset. The Villa Luna sits terraced into the hillside, its stone floors cooled by the earth.

Three bedrooms, floor-to-ceiling glazing on the garden side, and a butler who knows your preferences before you do. None of the villas share a wall. None of them share a view.

The Concept

A sanctuary
of curated isolation

Domaine des Étoiles was born from a simple conviction: luxury is the absence of compromise. The Loire stretches 800 kilometers, yet only a handful of estates hold the darkness of sky this property commands. Night-sky certification. No streetlights within twelve kilometers. A private observatory with a 400mm refractor that brings Jupiter to your retina.

You do not visit for the architecture. You visit because, on your second night, you look through that telescope and remember what your grandfather once pointed out to you, decades ago, and you forgot until now.

The universe made intimate yours alone

The Loire Valley has been darkening its skies for decades, guided by a consortium of astronomers and local councils. Here, the Milky Way is not a photograph. It is a ceiling you can almost reach. Your dedicated astronomer sets up the 400mm aperture telescope before dinner, calibrates to your chosen coordinates, and walks you through the year's observable events: Saturn's rings, the Orion Nebula, the variable stars of Cassiopeia.

A Night at Étoiles

The Twilight Ascent

At dusk, a driver collects you from your villa in a heated vehicle. The twenty-minute route winds through vineyards that turn bronze in the last light. You arrive at the terraced observatory as the first stars appear. The astronomer has already prepared champagne.

Celestial Alignment

Two hours pass without anyone checking a watch. The astronomer identifies a comet visible only once per human lifetime, and you watch it crawl across the eyepiece like a whisper. Afterward, you return to your villa under a sky that feels, impossibly, closer than it did before.

Twelfth-century
liquid gold

The Wine Cathedral: a twelfth-century cellar with carved tuffeau stone arches and rows of oak barrels, viewed from below.

The Wine Cathedral occupies twelve meters of carved tuffeau stone beneath the domain. Twelfth-century arches support a ceiling where bats have nested for eight hundred years. The private collection holds 4,200 bottles from twenty-one appellations, including several vintages no longer commercially available. Your sommelier curates a tasting based on the season, your preferences, and the single bottle from 1945 that has never been uncorked.

The Celestial Spa

When the moonflower blooms within you

The spa exists at ground zero between the vineyards and the sky. Two treatment rooms, one thermal pool fed by a natural spring, and a menu of rituals drawn from botanicals grown on-site: moonflower, elderflower, Loire lavender. Your therapist has studied French apothecary traditions for fourteen years.

Moonflower
Serenity

The Celestial Alignment treatment blends deep tissue work with thermal stone placement along the meridian points. Forty minutes of pressure work. Twenty of hot stone. Twenty of silence. The room is lit only by beeswax candles and a skylight.

The Lunar Bloom Facial uses a proprietary moonflower extract developed with a botanist from the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle. Results are measured in luminosity, not in marketing claims.

Weightless
Euphoria

A 15-meter thermal pool fed by a natural spring at 34 degrees, open to the sky. In winter, you float in warm water while snow collects on the surrounding cypress hedges. In summer, the pool reflects the constellations as if the earth had cracked open to reveal a second sky.

Access is included with your stay. No schedule. No capacity limit. The pool is yours whenever you choose to step into it.
